Our Story

From Dottie Childers, the wife of Founder, George Childers.

My Magic Carpet Ride began over sixty years ago when I met and married George Childers, the co-founder of Magic Carpet Ride charter motor coach company.

Beginning with one coach in 2004, George and his partner, John Giraldo, grew the company from a single vehicle to a fleet of eleven. Known for their excellent customer service, cleanliness and well maintained coaches, the company flourished and was in demand for field trips and sports teams, charters for travel agencies, and private events. Magic Carpet Ride was the first choice for local schools from all grade levels to Indian River State College.

When COVID struck in 2020, it dealt a devastating blow to the travel and motor coach industries. Recovery was slow and still ongoing. Prior to George's death in November of 2022, George and John reactivated Magic Carpet Ride on a smaller scale, but no less intent on continuing to provide excellent performance. John Giraldo has done a spectacular job of furthering the Magic Carpet Ride dream that he and George envisioned.
